Our art of mother-of-pearl, a light to the world

I have witnessed the unfortunate reality where mother-of-pearl lacquerware, considered the foremost representative field of Korean traditional culture and arts, is gradually being forgotten and disappearing as it gets buried in Western culture amidst the wave of globalization, while neighboring countries such as Japan and Taiwan are showing great interest, sparing no support or sponsorship, and striving to revitalize it. Faced with this reality, I have developed a strong determination to preserve Korean traditional culture and arts, including mother-of-pearl lacquerware, out of considerable concern that we might be losing the soul of our nation.

While the status of K-Art is rapidly rising and garnering interest and acclaim worldwide, the unfortunate reality remains that it is limited to specific fields. We aim to widely promote Korea's beautiful traditional art through domestic and international art fairs and exhibitions, and to provide opportunities for young artists who wish to realize their dreams by fully unfolding their artistic worlds through diverse experiences.
